Town to give away trees for Earth Day

For the third year in a row, the Town of Georgina is celebrating Earth Day by giving away trees at the ROC on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This initiative is supported through funding provided in partnership with Canadian Trees for Life and its vendor, Beech Nurseries.

The Town has three different varieties of trees in two-gallon pots – Red Maple, Canadian Serviceberry and White Pine. There are 1,000 trees available and Georgina residents are allowed two per vehicle. Request for a specific tree species is not guaranteed. It is first come, first served.

Registration
As part of the partnership starting this year, residents wishing to receive a tree must sign up online and will be asked to provide an email address, along with consent to be contacted throughout the following year regarding the health and status of their tree(s). This follow up helps to monitor tree health and better understand the survivability and overall success of the program. Visit georgina.ca/GeorginaGrows to register. Proof of registration is required to pick up trees. Registration opens on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Contest
Take a picture of the planted tree to enter the #GeorginaGrows contest to win one of three $50 gift cards to a tree nursery of your choice. How to participate:

  • Snap a picture of the planted tree received from the Earth Day Tree Giveaway.
  • Post it on social media, tagging @TownofGeorgina and include the hashtag #GeorginaGrows.

Winning participants will be randomly selected and notified.
